Under the Rim Under the Rim is a novel about women's college basketball.
Under the Rim deals with relationship challenges of college women who play college basketball, where the same traits that make them great athletes (confidence, competitiveness and leadership) are the same traits that sabotage their relationships.
San Francisco Chronicle
"Burris' characters... are likable and well-drawn and he has nailed large parts of team culture. The story also is topical, hitting on everything from eating disorders to domestic violence to Title IX and women's rights around the world."
Michelle Smith, Women's Basketball Writer
San Francisco Chronicle Feb 9, 2006

Sensitive vs. Roughnecks Too much of a good thing
Under the Rim also deals with other issues that face young
women; eating disorders, domestic violence and self-esteem.
Under the Rim shows the strength of women around the world
and makes a strong case that women are the most mistreated
group of people in the world. It illustrates this point with
compelling first person accounts of bride burning in India,
female circumcision in Africa, and the Brazilian's unique
response to domestic violence.
